The Indian Ocean Triennial Australia – otherwise known as the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial owing to its craft focus – is already in the planning stages for the 2024 edition. As an artist I was heavily involved in the last one – my piece Juukan Tears<\/a><\/em> was in one of the keystone exhibits, and the Connexions<\/a><\/em> exhibition was a festival event. This time I have been invited as an artist member of the curatorial committee, so I’ve been working with the team on the Codes In Parallel<\/em> theme statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Really this post is just here to point you in the direction of the full call-out <\/strong><\/a>over on the IOTA website, and if it applies, and you have a great idea you’d like to share, or a venue, or craft group that wants to get involved in August\u2013September\u2013October 2024, I encourage you to read up on the ways to make a submission<\/strong><\/a> and get it in before the 14th of November 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve already had queries from artists outside WA – yes, there are ways for you to get involved – don’t forget, Liz Williamson was exhibited at Fremantle Arts Centre in the last iteration. And on the topic, there are more than rumours that the Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia national conference will coincide with this timing, so there will be plenty of shows to get amongst in Perth and surrounds in 2024.
