{"id":4084,"date":"2012-02-07T08:06:10","date_gmt":"2012-02-06T21:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.melissacameron.net\/blog\/?p=4084"},"modified":"2012-07-08T08:11:58","modified_gmt":"2012-07-07T22:11:58","slug":"very-melbourne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.melissacameron.net\/blog\/?p=4084","title":{"rendered":"Very Melbourne"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Launching off from a <a title=\"Comments are to the bottom of this page - all regarding the ManJewellery online exhibition, also available on that page\" href=\"http:\/\/crafthaus.ning.com\/group\/manjewellery?groupUrl=manjewellery&amp;id=2104389%3AGroup%3A319743&amp;page=2#comments\" target=\"_blank\">comment<\/a> that I remarked upon in a <a title=\"the post where I talked about The Comment\" href=\"https:\/\/www.melissacameron.net\/blog\/?p=4079\" target=\"_blank\">previous post<\/a>, I wanted to share something I read the following day; a review that compares two stops of a travelling exhibition. In the post, entitled\u00a0<a title=\"on the Unmaking Things blog\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.rca.ac.uk\/unmakingthings\/2012\/01\/26\/travelling-beauty-wilde-aestheticism-and-the-french\/\" target=\"_blank\">Travelling Beauty: Wilde, Aestheticism and the French<\/a>, Soersha Dyon talks about an exhibition first displayed at the <a title=\"The Victoria + Albert Museum, London\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vam.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">V&amp;A<\/a>, which has been remounted, with significant changes, at the <a title=\"Mus\u00e9e D'Orsay\" href=\"http:\/\/www.musee-orsay.fr\/fr\/accueil.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Orsay<\/a> in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>It is the reaction to the two shows that Dyon describes that is most telling, a reaction which certainly reflects the the difference in audience and critics at work in each of the two cities.<\/p>\n<p>Reading about this large international exhibition pulled into focus the difficulties of difference between geographically and aesthetically different places. I&#8217;m still not sold on the idea that <a title=\"ManJewellery on Crafthaus\" href=\"http:\/\/crafthaus.ning.com\/group\/manjewellery\" target=\"_blank\">ManJewellery<\/a> could only be a Melbourne show, but it&#8217;s interesting to take a line for a walk. No?<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, while I&#8217;m still harping on about it, Beka Hannah has posted a blog about <a title=\"find Beka @ One Clockwork Rabbit\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oneclockworkrabbit.com\/blog1.php\/2012\/01\/30\/manjewellery\" target=\"_blank\">her ManJewellery work.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Art that crosses borders?
