{"id":2631,"date":"2011-03-23T07:04:38","date_gmt":"2011-03-22T20:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.melissacameron.net\/blog\/?p=2631"},"modified":"2011-03-23T09:09:08","modified_gmt":"2011-03-22T22:09:08","slug":"more-munchen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.melissacameron.net\/blog\/?p=2631","title":{"rendered":"More M\u00fcnchen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One on of the best shows I saw in Munich was also the last one I went to, which I managed to squeeze in after David Watkins and Wendy Ramshaw&#8217;s presentation <a title=\"All About Me via Pinakothek der Moderne website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pinakothek.de\/en\/kalender\/2011-03-20\/10818\/all-about-me-wendy-ramshaw-and-david-watkins\" target=\"_blank\">All About Me<\/a> at the <a title=\"Pinakothek Der Moderne website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pinakothek.de\/en\/pinakothek-der-moderne\" target=\"_blank\">Pinakothek der Moderne<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Entitled <a title=\"Treasure Hunt via Pinakothek der Moderne website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pinakothek.de\/en\/kalender\/2011-03-19\/14396\/treasure-hunt-class-eva-eisler-prague\" target=\"_blank\">Treasure Hunt<\/a>, it showcased a range of jewellery, sculpture and furniture works from the KOV studio in the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. As you might expect, I really liked the idea of combining these works into a single exhibition. It&#8217;s an idea not without considerable risk, but it was clear that a confident curatorial influence was at work, ensuring that the pieces were of a consistent standard. The <a title=\"Images of the larger works vie the International Design Museum website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.die-neue-sammlung.de\/press\/?page_id=4315&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">furniture works<\/a> were all executed in a similar, if not the same, unfinished timber material, as were many of the sculptural pieces.<\/p>\n<p>The jewellery works spanned precious and non precious metals, glass, cardboard, coloured pencils, plastic and thread, and exhibited (if I may be permitted to generalise a little) a strong spatial element, as well as an awareness of the body. I&#8217;ve managed to find some images <a title=\"the KOV studio - Concept, Object, Meaning website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vsup.cz\/en\/uzite-umeni\/atelier-kov-koncept-objekt-vyznam\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> of works from the show. (Of course there is a <a title=\"Czech Jewelry via the Jiri Sibor blog\" href=\"http:\/\/www.klimt02.net\/blogs\/blog.php?Id=3&amp;Id_post=11\" target=\"_blank\">Klimt02<\/a> page also.)<\/p>\n<p>To quote the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.die-neue-sammlung.de\/press\/?page_id=4315&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">International Design Museum<\/a> website, &#8220;Although  the initials K.O.V. make up the Czech word \u201cmetal\u201d, the Studio  is the  only department of the Academy\u2019s Department of Applied Arts that  has no  assigned media. In fact, the letters stand for Concept \u2014 Objekt \u2014   Meaning.&#8221; The professor is Eva Eisler, and to give the show it&#8217;s full  title, is called: <em>Treasure Hunt.
